The Flowerpot

For those in the know, The Flowerpot is probably the best live music venue in Derby city centre. As the place to catch some of the most amazing tribute bands in the UK, plus free acoustic music, this characterful public house is one of Derby’s hidden musical gems.

Take any bus to Derby City Centre, and walk to the north of the city centre, beyond the Cathedral. The Flowerpot is found opposite to the Jury’s Inn Hotel. If you live on the allestree or the sixes you can jump off across the road before getting into the city centre.

The Blessington Carriage

Chapel St, Derby

As well as being a cool place to meet up over cheap drinks, The Bless also hosts everything from comedy nights to quiz nights to theme nights. Check the facebook page to stay in the know about what’s on. A firm favourite on the student scene.

Revolucion de Cuba

Revolucion de Cuba is a breath taking new venue located on The Strand in the heart of Derby. Drink, dine, relax and let yourself escape into Havana in its heyday. The Tap

Derwent Street, Derby

Saved from the bulldozers back in 2008 by the local Derby Brewing Company, The Tap has gone on to become one of the finest real ale houses in the city. There is something for everybody, with a wide selection real ale, beers and spirits from around the world, homemade food and live music.

The Friary

Friar Gate, Derby

Another really good ‘everything under one roof’ venue and a student hot spot, The Friary is as good for a burger and a pint at lunchtime as it is for dancing up a storm in the early hours. Chill out upstairs in The Friary, and party in the basement nightclub Scream – there’s no need to go anywhere else!

swift will drop you off right outside, and the mickleover, X38, the villager V1/V2 just a dance away. Any bus to Derby though is no more than a 10 minute walk.

Seymour's 

Cheapside, Derby

Another student favourite, Seymour's has a relaxed vibe, an outdoor space and a rock/indie playlist. With plans to extend opening hours, and maybe even put on live music, Seymour's is on the up - go see what all the fuss is about for yourself! It’s even worth a lunchtime tipple... leave the car at home and go with the flow!

One of the greatest live music venues in the Midlands, its gig history reads like a who’s who of the music business – Ozzy Osbourne, The Libertines, Radiohead, Oasis, Cradle of Filth…the list goes on and on.
