rainbow reloaded

It’s now 20 years since we introduced the ‘rainbow’ concept to our customers. That was on one route amongst a sea of red Trent buses – since then, times have moved on and we’ve continued to innovate and invest in our service. And, again, it’s time for us to take yet another step forward, as we bring newer, higher levels of creature comforts to you on rainbow one and our award-winning rapid one.

This summer, rainbow one and rapid one get reloaded, with some of the smartest, highest-specified buses money can buy.

Over £2 million is being spent on 16 Optare Versa buses, which have been built locally up the road in Yorkshire, boasting the following features:

  • Free on-board 4G enabled WiFi
  • USB power sockets
  • Cosy, comfy seats with leather headrests
  • Double glazing
  • 'Next stop' announcements
  • Lightweight design that uses up to 37% less fuel than previous model

rainbow reward

We wanted to show our appreciation to our customers with a fantastic giveaway of a driving experience of one of our new rainbow one buses before anyone else. The bus would be named after you and you’d pick up a £100 MANGO too.

We were proud to welcome Mandie and Daniel Mullins from Eastwood to our Langley Mill depot as our winners. Daniel is a bus-mad teenager and the bus was named after him, whilst Mandy really enjoyed her time behind the wheel!

rainbow roadwalk

Mr MANGO, and Hero Bear, along with our bosses Jeff and Alex, led a 9-mile walk of the rainbow one route from Nottingham to Eastwood in aid of our Charity of the Year - Help For Heroes.

On a beautiful, sunny day, we were all put through our paces and after a few hours walk we made it! We would like to thank everybody involved and especially to those of you that donated.

There's still time to donate, just go over to our fundraising page.

rainbow roadshows

In the days leading up to our big relaunch we took our new buses out on the road to meet some of the lovely people of Kimberley, Ripley & Heanor.

On 26 July, our new buses were swapped over, one by one, during the day, whilst we say a fond farewell to the current Scania fleet who have served us and our customers so well for the past nine years.
