local bus driver on route for National Award

One of our drivers based at Nottingham is on route for a prestigious national award after winning over both customers and colleagues with his irrepressible sense of humour and commitment to service excellence.

Rhamzan Mohammed, known to his friends as Rambo, is a familiar face on our routes in Nottingham and has been shortlisted in the Bus Driver of the Year category of the 2010 UK Bus Awards.

Earlier this year he was named as our own Driver of the Year but now the 22-year-old hopes to follow in the footsteps of one of his colleagues, Barry Allitt, who claimed the national title in 2009.

Commented Alex Hornby, Commercial Director: "For a trent barton employee to be named as Britain's best bus driver for two years in a row would be a fantastic achievement that reflects the whole company's commitment to customer service.

"We know all our staff regularly go well above and beyond the call of duty but Rambo is particularly well known for his sense of humour and cheerful approach. For him to be shortlisted for this prestigious national award shows he is really amongst the best of the best."

In naming Rambo as a contender for the award, organisers of the UK Bus Awards commented on the fact that he had achieved a fantastic 97 per cent score in previous Driver of the Month competitions.

Said Rambo: "I was really pleased to win our own award but to be recognised at a national level is almost overwhelming."

We will be well represented when the winner is announced at a special awards event at the London Hilton on November 16. We have also been shortlisted in the 'Winning New Customers' category for the success of its nines service that operates between Mansfield and Derby.
