From Sunday 16 November, the A6 between Cromford and Matlock Bath will be closed for around a week for emergency tree removal being carried out by Derbyshire County Council.
This is essential safety work, but it means major disruption for the sixes routes especially the 6.1 which is also interworks with the 6.4 & 6X.
Unfortunately, all local alternatives like Via Gellia and Starkholmes are also closed, so we’ve had to plan some big diversions.
Here’s what’s happening:
6.1 the sixes (daytimes)
Runs as normal between Derby and Belper, then diverts to Matlock via:
Ambergate → Sawmills → Oakerthorpe → Wessington → Tansley
6.1 the sixes (after 7pm)
Extra challenge: the A6 near Ambergate also closes after 7pm. So evening journeys will divert further via:
Belper Estates → Heage → Hartshay Hill → Oakerthorpe → Wessington → Tansley
little sixes
We’re really sorry, but the diversion is too long to keep
little sixes running reliably. So this service will be suspended until the A6 reopens.
To keep you moving, we’ll run an hourly shuttle between Belper, Wirksworth and Middleton via the usual 6.1 route.
If you’re travelling from Wirksworth or Middleton, you’ll need to connect in Belper for onward journeys to Matlock, Bakewell or Derby.
We know this is a big inconvenience, and apologise for any disruption that this may cause to your journey which is beyond our control.
