On Sunday 15 October, the Derby team took to the Market Place in Derby city centre to mark the launch of brand new buses on the allestree.

trentbarton’s Big Day Out was the final launch of our biggest investment in a single year, with a total spend of £5 million on new & upgraded buses.

As this was the last in a long line of investments for 2017, the team wanted to do it in style, and that’s exactly what they did. The event was a celebration of buses old & new and they invited some special friends along to help.

Enthusiasts & customers could catch a glimpse of our entire ADL fleet from all Derby, Nottingham & Suttton in a very special one-off gathering. the mickleover, the nines, mainline & skylink Nottingham, along with our newly branded spare mango bus formed a striking & crowd pleasing visual timeline with the allestree’s new buses the most recent addition.

The event was also organised to raise money for our charity of the year, When you wish upon a Star. A trentbarton momorabilia stand drew in a large number of bus enthusiasts eager to get their hands on some unique items.

They invited along friends from various heritage bus groups to join in with the launch and run trips out to Allestree & Mickleover. All proceeds from these trips went straight to charity and proved extremely popular with reminiscing travellers.

Other friends who attended the event included Amber Ales who provided a beer stand for customers to grab a refreshing pint of real ale & the Big Melt cheese toastie stand.

These guys really embraced the event. Even tailoring their bespoke menu and even changed the names of their tasty treats to names of our most famous routes. The ‘H1’ ham & cheese toastie proved very popular as well as the ‘red arrow’ & skylink for those fancying something a little different.

All the staff that took part were provided with Big Day Out hoodies and were asked to donate some money if they wished to keep them. Everyone took up the invitation and this raised over £100. The event total reached a BIG £1200. Well done to everyone who took part.
